Center for Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine - Parnassus
The Center for Orofacial Pain was one of the first two centers in the United States established in 1959. The Center provides diagnosis and management of pain in the head, face, temporomandibular joints (TMJs), mouth and teeth, as well as, associated headaches and neck pain, including neuropathic pain (phantom tooth pain). We also offer dental sleep medicine services including oral appliance therapy for obstructive sleep apnea.

The faculty oral and maxillofacial surgeons at UCSF provide wisdom teeth and dental implant surgery under general anesthesia or other sedation in our surgery center, accredited by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care. We also provide a hospital-based service that takes patients to the operating rooms at UCSF Medical Center for major surgeries including orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery for braces) and surgery for obstructive sleep apnea.

The UCSF Dental Center’s Resident Orthodontic Clinic provides exceptional quality care by residents pursuing orthodontic specialty training under the guidance of experienced and internationally recognized faculty. All orthodontic specialty residents have completed a dental degree (DDS or equivalent) and are in a three-year training program to become orthodontic specialists.
Each treatment plan is developed by the resident, together with an attending faculty member. Visits can take longer, and fees in the resident clinic are lower than in the faculty clinic or at other private practices.

The UCSF Sol Silverman Oral Medicine Clinic provides world-renowned expertise in the diagnosis and management of oral diseases. Our specialists care for patients with oral potentially malignant disorders, oral cancer, lichen planus, vesiculobullous disorders and other immune-mediated diseases, oral complications of cancer therapies, orofacial pain disorders (including burning mouth syndrome), oral infectious conditions, HIV-related oral diseases and Sjögren’s syndrome, among others.
Student Dental Implant Program - Parnassus
The UCSF Student Implant Program offers affordable dental implants and crowns with a high level of supervision and the highest quality parts and materials. To qualify for the program, patients must have a stable “bite,” healthy mouth, and require implants in either the premolar or molar areas. Patients must be screened by faculty and receive a full comprehensive oral exam including X-rays, photos and models of your teeth.
The student implant program will not restore or service implants done at another dental office, will not restore any implants with dentures or partial dentures, nor restore any front teeth.
If your case is too complex, you may have the option of being seen in another specialty clinic within UCSF Dental Center.
